Join Bart Barthélemy in exploring the new and exciting world of California Varietal Ports.  Single varietal ports made from the very grapes you enjoy as dry wine take on an entirely different character when made in the new, lower sugar style pioneered by St. Barthélemy Cellars.  The class will have the opportunity to savor seven different varietal ports from California’s only Pinot Noir port to the inky black Petite Sirah port.

The food-friendly style of varietal ports will be emphasized with food pairings for each port selected by Jennifer English of the Food and Wine Radio Network and Chef Kurt Metzger of Concept Catering by CK.  Jennifer will suggest ways to get the most enjoyment out of these ports using non-traditional foods and spices.  Chef Kurt will discuss the various food preparations and how to make the most of wine and food pairings.  Jennifer, Kurt and Bart will challenge the class to “think outside the box” on food and port pairings

You will come away from this class with a new appreciation of food and wine pairings and a different view of the role of port wine in our culinary experience.
